2013 Recipients

In 2013, Bowling for Bears raised over $20,000 making it possible to purchase and distribute more than 2,500 Build-A-Bears.

In addition, in February 2013, a group in Rochester, Minnesota organized its second Bowling for Bears event, which raised more than $2,400 and distributed over 300 bears to local children in need. 


2011 Recipients

In 2011 alone, more than 400 members of our community came to the Bowling for Bears which raised approximately $22,000 making it possible to purchase and distribute more than 2,700 Build-A-Bears.  These bears were distributed to:

  2.     Wordsworth, an organization that operates residential and foster home facilities in Philadelphia

  3.     Robin's Nest, a children’s services organization in Glassboro that serves children throughout South Jersey

  4.     The GESU School for disadvantaged children in North Philadelphia 

  5.     Samuel Daroff School in West Philadelphia

  6.     John Barry Elementary School in West Philadelphia

  7.     Two shelters for women and children in Philadelphia

  8.     Face to Face in Germantown, Pennsylvania

  9.     Ronald McDonald House in Camden

  10.     Cooper University Hospital in Camden

  11.     St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia

  12.     Temple University-Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia

  13.     A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington


In addition, as part of the 7th Annual Bowling for Bears, The Lewis School in Princeton contributed $1,700 through several "Wear Jeans for Bears Days" and was able to distribute bears in December 2011, to children at:


•    University Medical Center at Princeton

•    St. Mary's Hospital in Bucks County

•    Anchor House in Trenton


Also in 2011, Bowling for Bears expanded nationally, with groups running their own Bowling for Bears events in Texas and Minnesota to give bears to children in need in their local areas.  We hope to continue to expand nationally in 2012.


2010 Recipients

The Sixth Annual Bowling for Bears alone was able to provide over 2,400 teddy bears to children in need in the  South Jersey and Philadelphia areas.  These bears were distributed to:

  1. The Camden Rescue Mission, which holds an annual party in late December where children in need throughout the area are given gifts for the holidays

  2. Wordsworth, an organization that operates residential and foster home facilities in Philadelphia

  3. Robin's Nest, a children’s services organization in Glassboro that serves children throughout South Jersey

  4. The GESU School for disadvantaged children in North Philadelphia 

  5. Two shelters for women and children in Philadelphia

  6. One shelter in New Brunswick

  7. Face to Face in Germantown, Pennsylvania

  8. CAMcare in Camden

  9. Ronald McDonald House in Camden

  10. Cooper University Hospital in Camden

  11. The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

  12. St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia

  13. Temple University-Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia

  14. A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington

  15. Virtua Hospital in Voorhees

The Fifth Annual Bowling for Bears alone was able to provide over 2,400 teddy bears to children in need in the  South Jersey and Philadelphia areas.  These bears were distributed to:

  2.     St. Christopher's Hospital for Children

  3.     A.I. duPont Hospital

  4.     Cooper University Hospital

  6.     Wordsworth Residential Foster Home Facility

2008 Recipients

The Fourth Annual Bowling for Bears alone was able to provide over 1,600 bears to children in need.  These bears went to:

  1.     The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

  2.     St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children

  3.     Cooper University Hospital

  4.     The Camden Rescue Mission

  5.     Two shelters

  6.     A residential foster home facility

  7.     An organization that runs a toy drive for children in need


2007 Recipients

For the Third Annual Bowling for Bears event in 2007, we decided to distribute the bears to children in need in the South Jersey and Philadelphia areas.  That year, we were able to provide every child at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children with a bear.


2006 Recipients

The Second Annual Bowling for Bears also benefited the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans and other children in need in the surrounding area.


2005 Recipients

After the first Bowling for Bears event, Bowling for Bears was able to provide every child at the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans with a teddy bear during the holidays.
